Ultra Electronics is able to bring together complex systems of systems that encompass sensors, data links and networking to deliver a true ISTAR systems capability. ISTAR systems, whether based on inhabited or uninhabited systems, are becoming increasingly important and are seen as significant force multipliers. Ultra recognises this, and based on our competencies we are successfully delivering such systems into service.
Ultra Electronics is the prime contractor for the delivery of Rafael's Litening III targeting pod to the UK. Selected for the UK Typhoon and Tornado, the Litening Pod offers a world beating Electro-optic and laser targeting capability providing precision strike capability, as well as a scanning, digital recording and reconnaissance mode. Ultra successfully integrated a data link into the Litening pod for Tornado, significantly increasing the capabilities of these latter functions, by providing the troops on the ground with enhanced Situational Awareness and performance against Time Sensitive Targets.
Ultra is prime contractor to deliver a Loitering Munition capability demonstrator programme - BLADE (Battlefield Loitering Artillery Directed Effect). Led by Ultra, this programme will be delivered by a world class team with expertise in project management, systems integration, weapon systems, C4ISTAR, joint targeting environment and synthetic environment. BLADE represents an advanced loitering weapon system optimised for use by the Royal Artillery and interoperable with the future British Army NEC environment.
Using our capabilities in systems integration and expertise in secure communication archetectures, systems and sub-systems. Ultra is playing a significant role in a number of new ISTAR programmes across the globe.
